Another Bunny

I was a slug yesterday, and didn't even bother to post on the blog.  Today was nice, so I set out into the back yard, camera in hand.  Birds flew by without stopping long enough to let me snap a picture.  I thought of the Small Stones and how I'm supposed to be paying attention.  Instead of feeling impatient about not immediately having something to take a picture of, I sat down on the patio, enjoyed the warmth of sunshine on my skin, and listened to the birds sing their song.  Then, I heard this noise on the side of the house, and thought it was the neighbor's cat coming over to visit again, but it was another bunny!  Yay for patience, paying attention, and springtime.

Our neighbor's cat visited our back yard the other day.  Mia was not happy about his appearance and almost tore the blinds down trying to get at him through the window.  Here's the visitor as he was making his escape over the fence.

As much as I loved the "fancy" cars this past weekend, the classic cars held just as much appeal.  They're really cool.  My favorite was a black and pink Mercury.  I had a little bit of trouble getting just the right angle on most of these because there was always somebody's head, leg, arm, whatever else in the way, so I did the best with what I had.

Can't remember what this was (maybe somebody can recognize it?).

Karmann Ghia.

Some dream cars from the car show.  Tomorrow, classic cars.

Another picture along the way into the car show yesterday.  I'm always on the look out for my next picture, and found the area outside to be just as interesting, if not more so, than the cars.  Will have more from inside the show tomorrow.

Dallas Skyline

Reunion Tower - took this on our way into the Dallas Car Show this afternoon.  Beautiful day.

One of the things I look forward to on the weekends lately is catching up on reading.  I even made myself a list called 'The Next Five' as a way to keep track of what I'm currently reading, and the next five books I want to read from my shelves so I can hopefully get rid of some older books and make room for others.  Things I know I want to keep.  Right now, I'm alternating between reading "It Takes a Witch" by Heather Blake and the Irish Born trilogy by Nora Roberts.

The books in the picture are from a goody box my mom sent us recently with some Easter candy.  She's sent me every James Patterson book she's ever read.  I've yet to read them.  Maybe someday.

I'm sure I'll enjoy the Janet Evanovich books. So far, I've read the first Stephanie Plum novel, and that was fun.

I love, love, love Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb.  Can't wait to get into these.

And I haven't read any of Jessica Beck's Donut Mystery series, but these look cute.

Ah, weekends and books!

Rainy Spring Day

First day of spring.  It's not even 70 degrees, it rained all night and most of this morning.  Just now the sun is trying to make its appearance behind ugly gray clouds.  Still have some pretty pink flowers to share.  Like little bits of sunshine.

Tiny Blooms

I'd hoped to have something special for St. Patrick's Day.  Like a shamrock or something, but this is from the pictures I took at the park yesterday.  Besides, the shamrock in my Lucky Charms this morning just didn't seem like a very interesting subject.

Spring Blooms

Took a walk through the park today.  Here's one of a few pictures I took.

A Sign in the Clouds

I was trying to take pictures of the clouds when we were on our way to the North Texas Irish Festival the weekend before last.  The timing was just right when I snapped the camera button on my iphone, we hit a bump in the road, and turned this sign into two.  No editing (except cropping the picture down some), no lie.  I loved how this turned out.

Spring has sprung!  At least I hope it has.  It sure feels like spring out there.  And I was lucky enough to find this butterfly on the bushes this morning when I was outside.  Even luckier that it sat still long enough for me to take several pictures, this one being the best.

Twisted Tree

Yesterday, time got away from me and when I finally had a moment to post, that moment was spent happily curled on the couch watching TV, glad for the weekend and our upcoming spring break.

Here's one from the latest trip to the park.

Sounds of the NTIF

The first band we heard was Killavil.  The guy on the far left, and the girl are brother and sister.  They play traditional Irish music, and came here from Florida.  They were really good. These pictures aren't the best quality.  I was usually too far away, and the lighting wasn't the best.  There was also so much more music that we didn't listen to because we were too busy browsing the merchandise.

This band was Tullamore.  Listened to them briefly while browsing a table of CDs.

Flashpoint.  Very lively trio.  They were cool.

Heartstrings.  Loved the harp.  Another brief listen as we were on our way out.

More from the NTIF

I'm going to split my pictures up into sections.  Some of the prettiest things I spotted weren't even part of the festival.  These are some random shots I took while walking around on the fair grounds itself.  Sounds from the festival coming tomorrow!

KeyRawr told me she thought these were lilacs.  I had no idea what they were other than they smelled really nice.

Pretty, shiny red berries that were beside those lilacs.

No idea what these pink pretties were.  Anybody?

North Texas Irish Festival

Crazy, fun, busy day.  I'd been waiting for this since I found out about it in January.  Here's one picture from the festival for now.  Will share more tomorrow.  It's late and I'm tired.  Finally winding down.  Off to sleep...with visions of the day and the sounds of Irish music in my head.
